Linda Murphy is a member of LAeRRICO & partners, which was founded in 2007 to focus on Executive Development, Individual & Team Coaching and Leadership Strategy. She specializes in organizational redesign, reshaping the organization’s culture and re-designing HR services to ensure business success. Linda lends her background in strategic planning and change management to the group.
Linda has successfully applied her knowledge and experience within the technology and financial sectors, where she led major cultural and process change initiatives, resulting in the realignment of several businesses. Across her various positions, Linda achieved success through her efforts to balance global strategies with local implementation, align and assess progress between strategies, cascading objectives, and actual results, and to assess performance from the client’s (both internal and external) perspective.
Most recently Linda served as Managing Diretor, Global Head of Benefits for a major Swiss bank Credit Suisse, where she oversaw the re-design, assessment, implementation and funding of competitive retirement and benefit programs for over 40,000 lives. Under her leadership, the Bank standardized benefit platforms, reduced benefit costs by over $1B, and increased employee satisfaction with local benefit offerings. Additionally, as a senior member of the HR team, Linda directed and managed the organizational re-design of HR globally, reflecting business requirements, affordability targets, and competitive norms.
Prior to joining Credit Suisse, Ms. Murphy was recruited to join Merrill Lynch, where she led their operational quality improvement strategy and program. Leveraging the identification and cascading of Critical Success Factors throughout the organization, she successfully introduced Balanced Scorecards as a way to assess the senior leadership team, and to align compensation decisions with results achieved. This cultural shift provided the foundation for Linda to establish processes and systems for global performance feedback and management.
Linda began her professional career at AT&T, where she held several positions of increasing responsibility in the systems development and MIS areas. She developed and maintained applications for the core functions of Legal, Finance, and Human Resources, on both a local and company-wide basis. While at AT&T, Linda changed her career path to assume responsibility for the sales and marketing of AT&T’s wireless business. As product line manager, Linda was responsible for product P&L, product life cycle management, marketing, and sales support. She grew the business from $32M to over $750M per year, doubling AT&T’s market share. She successfully negotiated contracts with non-traditional clients, creating significant new revenue streams for the Company.
Linda earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in American History from Douglass College, graduating summa cum laude. She supplemented this base with numerous business, quality, and leadership courses from Harvard University, the Women’s Leadership Conference, and other organizations.
Linda has served on the Board of Directors for a number of charities, most notably the Triangle Family Services Board in Raleigh, NC, where she was instrumental in restructuring the HR organization and guiding the group to fiscal solvency.
